Admissions Information
Applying to Virginia Tech
For the 2024-2025 academic year, Virginia Tech will exclusively use the Common App for first-year and transfer applications.
Required Academic Materials
Our required academic materials vary based on where a student has studied.
Students who have only studied within the U.S. during high school or college: Students will submit a Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR). A direct link to the SRAR is available in the Applicant Portal, which can be accessed after a student submits their application and receives instructions to create their account. This occurs within 72 hours of submission. For more information on submitting the SRAR, please review this site.
Students who have studied OUTSIDE of the U.S. at any point during high school or college: Students will submit unofficial transcripts for all coursework during high school or college. Transcripts can be submitted through the options listed below. Applicants are also able to upload materials through the Applicant Portal.
Sending Documents
Documents are accepted electronically through Common App, Parchment, Naviance, Scribe, Maia Learning, Scoir, National Clearinghouse, etc. We will also accept transcripts through mail, email, or fax if they come directly from the school. Please note that we can work with unofficial transcripts throughout the review process for students who must submit transcripts instead of a Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR). We only request official transcripts once the student has accepted their offer of admission.

Mid-Year Grades
